One of the three RCMP officers killed Wednesday by a heavily armed gunman in Moncton, N.B., is Const. Dave Ross, CTV News has confirmed.

Ross, a police dog handler, leaves behind his pregnant wife and their young son.

He and four other RCMP officers were shot Wednesday evening when a lone gunman started shooting at police in a residential neighbourhood in Moncton. Three Mounties, including Ross, were killed and two others were wounded.

The manhunt for the suspect, 24-year-old Justin Bourque, ended late Thursday after more than 24 hours.
