HALIFAX -- Police in Halifax have laid more charges against two 18-year-old men accused of confining and sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl.

Investigators say the girl told them she was confined in a basement in a building in North Preston for two days before she escaped last week.

RCMP Cpl. Scott MacRae says officers were called to Clarence Street on Thursday around 9 p.m. to investigate a report of shots being fired.

MacRae says officers discovered no evidence of a shooting, but found the girl who alleged that she had been threatened and held against her will.

Doreze Marvin Beals faces 11 charges including human trafficking, kidnapping, unlawful confinement, sexual assault causing bodily harm and gang sexual assault.

Police have also laid eight charges against Andre Jerome Gray, including human trafficking, kidnapping, unlawful confinement, sexual assault causing bodily harm and gang sexual assault.
