MONTREAL -- A Montreal firefighter is in critical condition after being struck by a fire truck.

Const. Dany Richer of the Montreal police said the 38-year-old firefighter was in an intersection as fire trucks pulled up to a blaze in the city's St-Laurent borough on Friday.

"The truck did a manoeuvre and hit the firefighter, who was near it," said Richer.

The firefighter was rushed to hospital along with two others who are being treated for shock.

Montreal police are investigating the late-afternoon incident.
