When Maddy Barnett outgrew a T-shirt, she had an idea.

The seven-year-old girl told her father: “Let's … give it to kids who need it."

With help from her friends and her father, Barnett, started a charity called The Love Exchange.

Barnett’s charity encourages other children to donate their clothes so that they can be shipped to kids in need, perhaps to those who have fled the civil war in Syria.

Barnett has lined up some corporate sponsors and is raising money to ship the clothes by selling bracelets.

Her charity has inspired other children.

“When you do nice things for other people,” says one girl. “You just get joy in yourself because you know you're helping someone and making them have a smile on their face."
