Border officials seize 118 kg of cocaine coming off flight from Mexico

Nearly 120 kilograms of bricks that appeared to be cocaine were seized by Canadian border officials last month.

In a statement Wednesday, officials said they had seized 100 bricks of the substance.

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) said the substance was found after a routine cargo examination of a flight arriving from Mexico on Jan. 17. The shipment was flagged for further inspection, and then transported to CBSA offices.

CBSA said officials opened two large wooden crates, which contained several cardboard boxes.

In total, CBSA said investigators uncovered 100 brick-shaped bundles of suspected cocaine, weighing approximately 118 kilograms.

The cocaine was turned over to the RCMP.
