3 things for the 'Three Amigos'

The Three Amigos are reuniting in Mexico this week amid strained relations.

Prime Minister Stephen Harper heads south this week for a bilateral “Three Amigos” meeting with Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto and U.S. President Barack Obama in Toluca, Mexico. Trade tops the agenda, and a host of trade measures the U.S. has taken recently are said to have negatively impacted Mexico and Canada may factor into the conversation.

Obama’s long-awaited decision on the Keystone XL pipeline will also likely be a topic of discussion. The leaders may also address the topic of Canada’s visa requirement for Mexican travellers, a sore point for the Mexican government, which would like to see changes to the visa system critics call “stringent.”

Some tense moments in the air after an Ethiopian Airlines co-pilot hijacked a plane bound for Rome on Monday and flew it to Geneva, where he wanted to seek asylum. The co-pilot took control of the plane when the pilot ventured outside the cockpit, officials said. But passengers on the plane were none the wiser, saying they were even unaware it had been hijacked.
