Unintentional discharge: Calgary police search for bullet fired from officer’s weapon

A police officer's weapon went off at the Calgary Police Service District 2 office on Sunday. No one was injured and no property is believed to be damaged.

Calgary police are looking for a bullet officials said was fired unintentionally from an officer’s service weapon on Sunday.

In a news release, CPS said the member was inside the District 2 office, at 4506 17 Ave. S.W. at about 10:45 a.m. on March 23, when their weapon went off.

The bullet passed through a second-storey window on the south side of the building, police said, but no one appears to have been hurt.

The weapon was fired in the direction of the office’s parking lot and the community of Glendale on the other side of the road.

Police searched the community, spoke with residents and confirmed that no one had been hurt and no property was damaged.

The bullet has not been found.

An investigation will be conducted into the accidental discharge of the officer’s service weapon, as per CPS policy.
