Teen taken to hospital after being hit by a vehicle in north Calgary

A teenaged pedestrian was struck by a vehicle at Centre Street and 40th Avenue in north Calgary on Friday evening.

It happened around 6 p.m.

Police said a youth suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the collision.

EMS confirmed the pedestrian was a teen and was transported to the Alberta Children’s Hospital in stable condition.

What exactly led to the incident remains under investigation.

Police said the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene.

On X/Twitter, YYC Transportation advised Centre Street had been closed in both directions between 38th and 40th avenues as a result of the collision.

Shortly after 8:30 p.m., police said the road had been reopened.
