Alberta man wins $1M on Lotto 6-49

A Drumheller man says he had trouble believing his luck when he won $1 million on the lottery.

Robert Gallagher’s big win came from a Lotto 6-49 ticket purchased at the Mobil gas station in the southern Alberta town.

He won the April 22 gold ball draw.

Gallagher says he was on his way out for supper when he stopped at a gas station and checked his ticket.

“I couldn’t believe it,” he said. “I checked it twice and then gave it to the cashier to check it as well.”

Gallagher says he texted his son to share the news.

“He couldn’t believe it either,” he said.

Gallagher says he’s going to put the money into savings and investments for now.
