Seasonal conditions right up until the first day of summer

Things will change a bit a little later this week, but for the next couple of days, we can expect it to be more or less rinse and repeat.

It was a gorgeous day in Calgary with calm winds, warm temperatures and lots of sunshine throughout Monday afternoon.

In the early evening hours, there remained a slight risk of some isolated thunderstorms for the city, but models suggested the more severe cells would develop north of Calgary and to the east of the city.

This really remains the weather pattern for the next several days, which is a typical setup for this time of year in Alberta.

On Tuesday, expect a high of 23 C with a mix of sun and cloud throughout the day and another possible round of thunderstorms in the late afternoon/early evening.

While we enjoy the consistency, change is brewing over the north Pacific Ocean.

Two low-pressure systems are swirling near the Gulf of Alaska and have the potential to join forces later this week to pack a punch of precipitation to parts of southern Alberta.

We could get our first blast of wet weather ironically on the first day of summer on Friday—that’s when this system starts to steer more inland.

Some models show the outer edge of the low could collide with another low over Nunavut.

This could create not only wet conditions by Saturday but windy ones as well, with gusts out of the north as strong as 30-50 km/h.

This weather maker is still several days out, so naturally there is a lot of variation in possible precipitation totals.

For now, it appears at least 25 mm of precipitation could fall on both Friday and Saturday, though we will have a clearer picture closer to the actual event!
