Police investigate after man shot with arrow

A man is recovering in hospital after he was shot with a arrow during an incident at an underground parking lot downtown.

Police say a man drove himself to the Sheldon Chumir Centre at about 3:00 a.m. Monday after he’d been shot with an arrow.

The incident happened at an underground parkade in the 800 block of 4 Avenue S.W.

Stuart Brideaux from Calgary EMS says the victim, a man in his 20s, suffered a penetration wound to his shoulder.

The man was transferred to Foothill Hospital for treatment and is in serious, but stable, condition.

Police blocked off the parkade where the incident occured and say the investigation is still ongoing.

CPS Duty Inspector Michael Watterston says the victim is cooperating with police and that the incident is very strange. "In my 27 years, I've never heard of an incident with an arrow involved," he said.

Police believe it was a targeted attack but say a motive has yet to be determined. Investigators are working to put together a suspect description.
