Plans in the works to create non-profit to manage Lethbridge and District Exhibition

The groundwork is being laid to create a municipally controlled non-profit corporation to consolidate event management for the Lethbridge and District Exhibition (LDE).

During Thursday’s standing policy committee meeting, the committee was given updates on the third phase of the third-party review of the LDE.

The phase will involve legal frameworks, budgeting and strategic planning to create a corporation to manage the risk and operate the exhibition grounds for the benefit of the LDE and City of Lethbridge.

Administration is also asking for the approval to reorganize and refocus the LDE on its core business and restore the governance shareholdings and share the structure of the exhibition.

The matter will now go to city council for further consideration and approval.
