Motorcyclist sent to hospital after crash in southeast Calgary

A man was taken to hospital after he lost control of his motorcycle early Tuesday morning.

Calgary police are investigating a motorcycle crash on Tuesday that sent a man to hospital in life-threatening condition.

Police say a 39-year-old man was eastbound on Stoney Trail S.E., heading toward northbound Deerfoot Trail when he veered into the travel lanes of a second on-ramp from Cranston Boulevard S.E.

Once there, the motorcycle fell onto its side, ejecting the rider and hitting a guardrail.

Multiple witnesses saw the motorcyclist lose control and be tossed from their bike.

Police say the motorcycle was the only vehicle involved in the crash.

The CPS traffic section found the driver was not impaired by drugs or alcohol, but may have been speeding at the time of the crash.
