Lethbridge street race sees dozens of tickets issued by police

Lethbridge police say dozens of tickets were issued after officers put a stop to a street race over the weekend.

Police didn’t say exactly where the racing happened – or which day it occurred – but say two of the motorcyclists involved received 60 total tickets for things like speeding, stunting, excessive exhaust noise and a lack of insurance.

Police say one vehicle was towed due to lack of insurance.

The tickets come as part of a targeted operation to address high-risk and “nuisance” driving behaviours in Lethbridge, first launched by police in 2022.

“Drivers are reminded there will be zero tolerance for offences, and contraventions under the Traffic Safety Act and Vehicle Equipment regulations will result in tickets,” police said in a Wednesday news release.
