‘Fortunate to get quality’: Hurricanes pick up 11 in WHL Prospects, U.S. Priority drafts

The Lethbridge Hurricanes selected nine players during the WHL Prospects Draft, and two in the U.S. Priority Draft.

The Lethbridge Hurricanes selected nine players during the 2025 WHL Prospects Draft on Thursday.

The picks include five forwards, three defencemen and one goaltender.

“We’re fortunate to get quality—a couple of quality (defencemen) early, a couple of quality bigger forwards early—that can put up some numbers,” said Garry Carson, the Hurricanes’ head scout.

“We were excited to be able to get that.”

The forwards selected are Luka Samu, Graham Gard, Nixxon Arcand-Vandale, Jase Brodrick and Beau Anholt.

The defenceman are Liam McFadden, Jake Beaty and Nixon Wright.

And the goaltender is Cohan Kuntz.

The Hurricanes also picked up a forward and defenceman in the U.S. Priority Draft earlier this week.

Those picks are Cash Whitmore and Drew Kortan, respectively.

The club added a total of 11 players born in 2010 to its roster.
