Fire crews put out two house fires

This house was severely damaged by a fire that broke out on Tuesday night. Two of the four occupants were taken to hospital for smoke inhalation.

Calgary fire crews had their hands full dealing with two house fires overnight.

The first broke out at home in the 2800 block of 42 St. S.W. in the community of Glenbrook and when crews arrived at 8:30, they quickly called a second alarm.

All of the residents of the house got out safely while crews attacked the blaze and brought it under control.

A few hours later, another home caught fire on Penbrooke Rd. S.E.

Crews met the residents of the home on the sidewalk as they arrived and immediately took two of them to hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation.

The CFD says that a strong interior attack put out the fire quickly, but the living room and attic sustained extensive damage.

They managed to contain the fire and no other people were injured in the fire.

Fire investigators are looking into what caused both fires.
