Calgary police seek to identify sexual assault suspect

Calgary police are asking for the public’s help to identify a man who is believed to be responsible for sexually assaulting a teenage girl onboard a CTrain. (CPS handouts)

Calgary police are hoping to identify a man who allegedly sexually assaulted a teenage passenger aboard a CTrain last week.

It happened at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, June 6.

Investigators believe the suspect boarded a southbound CTrain at either the Erlton or 39 Avenue station and sat down next to the victim.

“Shortly after, he proceeded to touch her in a sexual manner without consent,” police said in a Friday news release. “The victim shouted to alert other passengers about the incident, and the suspect exited the CTrain at Heritage Station.”

The suspect is described as 40 to 50 years old and approximately 5’8” (173 cm) tall with short, salt-and-pepper facial hair.

He was carrying a black backpack and wearing dark-coloured sunglasses, a dark blue hoodie with the hood covering a light-coloured baseball cap, black pants and dark-coloured shoes.

Anyone with information about the man’s identity is asked to call police at 403-266-1234.
