Alberta First Nation seeks more control over historical resources on lands

Published

Members of the Chipewyan Prairie First Nation conduct an archeological dig on their reserve lands in Janvier, Alberta as shown in this handout image. The band is hoping to co-manage historic resources throughout their traditional territory. Current regulations don't require either industry or government to consult with First Nations, although voluntary consultation sometimes occurs. THE CANADIAN PRESS/HO-Ave Dersch
