MONTREAL -- Air Canada Rouge is expected to hire more than 100 flight attendants in the coming weeks as it prepares to open a base of operations in Montreal in June.

The low-cost subsidiary of Air Canada (TSX:AC.B) plans to offer 51 flights per week from Montreal to a total of 12 cities including destinations in Europe and the U.S.

Rouge flights from Montreal are currently serviced with crews that commute on Air Canada flights from Toronto.

Air Canada recently announced that it will transfer service beginning later this month on some routes from Calgary, Vancouver and Toronto to its Rouge subsidiary.

Flight attendants based in Vancouver will fly the Rouge routes out of Calgary.
