Teen charged with stunt driving after spinning tires in school parking lot in front of officers

Police charged a 17-year-old with stunt driving after officers reportedly watched a vehicle’s tires spinning before leaving a school parking lot in Meaford.

Officers were conducting school patrol at the Georgian Bay Community School on Friday afternoon when they spotted the vehicle. They say the incident happened in front of children and adults at the end of the school day.

The officers conducted a traffic stop and charged the young driver, which resulted in an automatic 14-day vehicle impoundment and a 30-day licence suspension.

The teen will also have to answer to the stunt driving charge in court later next month. If convicted, the young driver faces six demerit points and a potential spike in insurance rates.
