Police make arrest in Barrie after responding to weapons call

Police arrested a man after receiving a report about someone with a firearm at a Barrie business Monday evening.

Officers said they quickly located the man after a concerned citizen alerted them that he had tucked a gun into his waistband at a Dunlop Street West business. Police say the accused was found to be wanted on an outstanding warrant issued by another police service.

During the arrest, police say officers found suspected methamphetamine and edged weapons in his possession. Police say while no firearm was located, the accused was in violation of a probation order for having the edged weapons. He was also charged with drug possession.
