OPP issues warning about fake cryptocurrency investments

Ontario Provincial Police are warning the public about a cryptocurrency scam.

OPP say its cyber fraud team is assisting in an investigation that has seen victims lose hundreds of thousands of dollars in fake crypto investments.

Det. Sgt. John Armit of the OPP's Anti-Rackets Branch says cryptocurrency scams account for the majority of the $309 million dollars in annual fraud losses.

Police are reminding the public to be aware of who they send their crypto money to, as once it's gone, you can't get it back.
