Collingwood hospital gets new X-ray machine A new X-ray machine will help to make patient and lab tech experiences more seamless at Collingwood General and Marine Hospital.

After six weeks of construction, a new X-ray machine is ready for service at Collingwood General and Marine Hospital (CGMH).

On Monday, the hospital unveiled the new 2-in-1 premium machine that supports traditional X-rays and Fluoroscopy, helping create more seamless sessions for lab techs and patients.

The machine cost just over $1 million and was 100 per cent funded by donors and through the hospital's charitable foundation.

"This significant investment reflects our dedication to ensuring that our community has access to cutting-edge diagnostic imaging technology right here at home. The enhancements will greatly improve patient care by providing more precise and efficient diagnostic capabilities," said Michael Lacroix, CGMH president and CEO.

The X-ray machine is the start of a series of upgrades that the hospital is set to make.

Lacroix said the hospital will be upgrading its CT Scanner in a few months, while its previously announced MRI will be ready in the first quarter of 2025

The online booking system for X-rays will remain in place, which can be made by visiting the hospital's website.
