Motorcyclist dead in crash with tractor trailer

Police in Kawartha Lakes are investigating a fatal collision that took place on Saturday morning.

Just before 10:30 a.m., police and emergency services were called to a crash involving a tractor trailer along Highway 7 near Double Tree Road.

According to officials, the driver of a motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene.

Ontario Provincial Police closed the road for several hours to investigate the cause surrounding the collision. Highway 7 remains closed between Highway 35 and County Road 36.

The driver of the tractor trailer was taken to a local hospital.

Anyone who may have witnessed or has video/dash camera footage of the collision and has not spoken with police is asked to contact the City of Kawartha Lakes OPP Detachment at 1-888-310-1122.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
