Inmate on the lam tracked by K-9 unit

Inmate discovered missing from Gravenhurst jail An inmate is back in custody after disappearing from the Beaver Creek Institute in Gravenhurst.

An inmate on the lam was apprehended by dogs several hours after his disappearance.

Staff at Beaver Creek Institute in Gravenhurst called Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) after noticing a 41-year-old man from Iqaluit, Nunavut, was unaccounted for during dinner Sunday.

Authorities believed the prisoner had left the Muskoka institute.

For several hours, the OPP’s K-9 Unit and Emergency Response Team conducted a search of the area.

At 9:19 p.m., the man was located by the K-9 Unit and taken back into custody.
