Fiat has announced that it will be unveiling a new version of its iconic "500" model this summer.

The new Fiat 500 will be revealed on July 4, to coincide with the car's 58th birthday, and the Italian brand has promised fans an "unforgettable surprise".

Since its creation in Turin on July 4, 1957, the 500 has gone on to be one of Fiat's most important exports, marketed in more than 100 countries in the world and with more than 1.5 million registered vehicles globally. The model was revamped in 2007 and has been updated annually since then.
