Saint Andrews, N.B., to vote on proposed $9M wharf refurbishment project

The Saint Andrews, N.S., council will vote on a tender to refurbish the Market Wharf.

The Town of Saint Andrews, N.B., council will vote on a proposed $9-million tender for the refurbishment of the Market Wharf, a project that has garnered significant public attention in recent months.

According to the council’s agenda, councillors will vote to either approve or deny a $9,459,210 tender for Caldwell & Ross Ltd., or vote to approve or deny a motion to cancel the tender process on the refurbishment, as all bids were over budget.

Council will vote on the matters at their meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.

The Town of Saint Andrews said the meeting will be held in the dining room of the W.C. O’Neill Arena Complex “due to the high interest.”

In January 2024, council approved a roughly $7-million refurbishment of the wharf with a mix of steel and infill. A final decision on the project was delayed this summer for an environmental impact assessment.

At their Aug. 18 meeting, council approved the creation and release of a request for proposals for the project management of the Market Wharf and Market Square development project.
