Inmate found dead at Dorchester Penitentiary

CTV Atlantic: Inmate found dead An inmate convicted of first-degree murder has died at New Brunswick's Dorchester Penitentiary.

Correctional Service Canada confirms an inmate at New Brunswick’s Dorchester Penitentiary has died.

Zane Weatherbee was found unresponsive in his cell on Thursday. In a statement, Correctional Service Canada said staff members performed CPR and emergency responders were called to the prison, but Weatherbee was pronounced dead.

Weatherbee was convicted of murdering a little girl in Sydney in 1982. He was a teenager at the time.

The 49-year-old had been serving an indeterminate sentence for first-degree murder since Nov. 2, 1982.

Correction Service Canada says the police and coroner have been notified and the inmate’s death is under investigation.
