Halifax police investigate three separate pedestrian collisions

Police are urging drivers and pedestrians to be extra cautious after three separate car/pedestrian collisions occurred in the Halifax Regional Municipality within the last 24 hours.

Woman struck by Metro Transit bus

Police say a 54-year-old woman was walking in a marked crosswalk when she was hit by a Metro Transit bus in Halifax.

The incident happened at the intersection of Summer Street and Spring Garden Road. Police arrived on scene just after 6:30 a.m.

The woman suffered minor injuries and was treated on scene.

Police say the accident is under investigation.

Collision sends pedestrian to hospital

Police responded to a collision just before 8 a.m. in Dartmouth.

They say a 19-year-old woman was also crossing at a marked crosswalk when she was stuck at the intersection of Hawthorne and Portland Street.

She suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital. There is no word yet on the extent of her injuries.

The collision is under investigation.

Motorist hits pedestrian then flees scene

Police say a man sustained minor injuries last night in Dartmouth after being struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Portland Street and Manor Drive.

Police responded to the call at 5:45 p.m., only to find the motorist had fled the scene.

The 22-year-old victim was sent to the Dartmouth General Hospital for treatment.

A witness to the crash followed the suspect’s vehicle to the area of Oathill Crescent and Celtic Drive.

The vehicle is described as a beige Chevy Malibu or Impala. The plate provided to police did not match the vehicle description.

Investigators are still investigating and looking at plate possibilities.
