Mary Simon installed as Canada's 30th Governor General

Mary Simon is now officially the Governor General of Canada, after being installed in a pared-down but historic and culturally-rich ceremony. A prominent Inuk leader and former ambassador, Simon is the 30th governor general Canada has had, and is the first Indigenous person to take on the role.

Doctors warn cases of respiratory virus could surge as pandemic precautions reduced

As social distancing and travel restrictions relax amid declining COVID-19 infection rates, doctors are cautioning about a potential off-season resurgence of respiratory syncytial virus. It is a common infection in pre-pandemic times, but can still be very serious for high-risk young children and infants with lung or congenital heart disease.
