TORONTO -- Canada has now administered at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine to 36.12 per cent of the country's total population. Here's what else you need to know to start your day.

1. Telford testimony: CTV News has learned that the prime minister’s chief of staff, Katie Telford, has offered to appear before the House of Commons’ defence committee on Friday, as part of its ongoing review into sexual misconduct in the Canadian Armed Forces.

2. Vaccine rollout: Maj.-Gen. Dany Fortin says, even with the growing number of Canadians who are eligible to be immunized, he expects Canada to have enough doses for everyone who wants to be vaccinated in the coming months.

3. Second dose: Emergency room doctors and nurses in Canada are growing increasingly frustrated that many of them have yet to receive a second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

4. Information sharing: The federal government is edging closer to waiving intellectual property rights on COVID-19 vaccines, as it faces increased pressure from members of Parliament of all party stripes.

5. Universal vaccine?: Researchers in Saskatchewan, along with others around the globe, are working to create a universal vaccine that might be able to work against all future coronavirus-related viruses.

One more thing…

Blue light: Despite mounting research to show the negative effect smart devices have on our quality of sleep, a new study suggests that blue-light-reducing features like Apple's Night Shift mode don't actually improve users' sleep at all.
