TORONTO -- World No. 3 Simona Halep has been added to this year's Rogers Cup player field.

Halep's inclusion means that all top 25 players from the WTA will be competing for the Rogers Cup title next month.

The Romanian holds 11 WTA titles and won her biggest career trophy at Indian Wells earlier this year. She will be competing at Rogers Cup for the first time since 2012, when she made the second round as the world No. 48.

"I'm really looking forward to returning to Canada and playing (at the) Rogers Cup," Halep said in a statement. "I haven't played there in a couple years so I can't wait to perform for all my Canadian fans -- and I know there are a lot of Romanians in Toronto too.

"I'm ready to compete and excited for a great tournament."

As a year-end top 20 player from 2014, Halep qualifies for a top 20 wild card that is reserved for competitors who don't originally enter a tournament.

The Rogers Cup women's tournament will take place Aug. 8 to 16 in Toronto.
