NEW YORK -- New York City, Philadelphia and Atlantic City, New Jersey, have broken temperature records during a brief December heat wave.
The National Weather Service says the temperature in Central Park hit a record-setting 65 degrees (18.3 Celsius) Saturday.
The previous record was 62 (16.7 Celsius), set in 2011 and 1923.
Philadelphia and Atlantic City, New Jersey, reached 67 degrees (19.5 Celsius) on Saturday afternoon.
That broke Atlantic City's previous mark of 63 degrees (17.2 Celsius), set in 2011, and bested Philadelphia's previous high of 66 degrees (18.9 Celsius), set in 1895.
Sunday is supposed to be even warmer in the region. Temperatures could top 70 (21.1 Celsius).
