MEXICO CITY -- Police in southern Mexico have found eight dismembered, burning bodies dumped on a roadside in the Pacific coast state of Guerrero.

State security spokesman Roberto Alvarez says Monday the bodies were chopped up, stuffed into black plastic garbage bags and set alight.

They were still flaming when police arrived on the scene Sunday in the conflict-ridden city of Chilapa.

The identity of the partially burned corpses has not yet been determined.

Such grisly piles of corpses have been found in the past in and around Chilapa, where two gangs known as the Ardillos and the Rojos are fighting for turf.
