The Indian diplomat who says she was strip-searched after her arrest in New York City on visa charges has been transferred to India's mission to the United Nations.

A former colleague at the Indian consulate in New York confirmed the move and said Devyani Khobragade was transferred Tuesday.

"I can't comment more on that," says Venkatasamy Perumal, consul for press and information.

Requests for comment to the UN mission's first secretary have not been immediately returned.
