After watching several debates and listening to Trump’s answers, St. Louis Alderman Antonio French thought they were a lot like a teenager writing a book report about a book they didn’t read.

He took to twitter and with one tweet he started the social media sensation #TrumpBookReport.

“It just really sounded like he was phoning it in,” French told CTV News Channel.

“The answers he was giving for very complicated subjects was so simplified that it seemed like he maybe read the first few lines of a briefing and that was about it.”

#TrumpBookReport became so popular that at one point more than 22,000 people were tweeting about it per hour.

His phone has been buzzing for the last 18 hours but he doesn’t mind.

“I think it’s incredible. It just shows the power of social media. I think people watching the debate were so frustrated by what they were seeing and really the whole tone of this campaign, that people needed a little humour. And I think this provided an outlet for folks to invent in a very humorous and very creative way.”

While French couldn’t pick a favourite tweet here are a few of ours:
