MONTREAL - Beware your postings!
A technology expert says that's the lesson people should learn from the case of a Quebec woman who says her Facebook postings led to her disability benefits being cancelled.
Nathalie Blanchard was on leave from her job at IBM in Bromont due to a diagnosed case of depression.
She'd been receiving disability payments from Manulife for a year when the payments suddenly ended.
Blanchard says an insurance agent told her she was cut off because of a Facebook profile that showed her partying at bars and on holiday.
Blanchard says her doctor had advised her to have some fun.
Now she's considering legal action to try to get her benefits reinstated.
Carmi Levy, a London, Ontario based technology analyst, says it's a stark reminder that Internet postings are never truly private.
The federal Liberals also found themselves in damage control this weekend after the wife of former leader Stephane Dion posted comments on Facebook slagging current party boss Micheal Ignatieff.
