Commuters who use the Queensborough Bridge should expect a longer drive Friday afternoon, after a vehicle fire led to lane closures. The New Westminster Police Department says officers were called to the bridge to do traffic control at about 2 p.m. after a vehicle caught fire. The bridge was initially shut down in both directions as crews worked to clear fuel and debris off the bridge, but one northbound lane opened soon after. As of 3:30 p.m., one lane was open in each direction. Pedestrians and cyclists can still use the bridge during the disruption.
