Police in Nanaimo are asking the public for help as they work with the BC Coroners Service to identify a dead body found on a local beach last week. The discovery was made on Friday. Lantzville Fire Rescue called police to the scene around 3 p.m., Nanaimo RCMP said in a news release Tuesday. Mounties did not specify the beach on which the deceased woman was found. Asked whether the woman’s death is considered suspicious, police told CTV News it’s too soon to say. Police said the deceased “may have been” in her 50s and “appeared to have short, wavy, grey hair.” She was wearing black running shoes, tights and a grey sweatshirt. Anyone who has information about the woman or the circumstances of her death should call Nanaimo RCMP at 250-754-2345 and cite file number 25-4361, police said.
