There were no injuries reported after an explosion in a Kitsilano house Monday afternoon. Vancouver Fire Rescue Services Asst. Chief Pierre Morin told CTV News firefighters got a call for a reported building collapse near Macdonald Street and West 8th Avenue around 3:45 p.m. Thirty-six firefighters were sent to the scene and arrived to find an explosion and fire in the basement, he said. The blaze was contained to the basement but the upper floors of the home sustained some damage. While crews were able to able to put out the fire, the house was deemed uninhabitable and its six tenants have been displaced, according to VFRS. The cause of the explosion and fire remain under investigation.
