Grainy security camera footage could hold the key to identifying a vehicle linked to a 'brutal' home invasion in Ontario. The robbery left a woman dead from gunshots and her husband seriously wounded.

York Regional Police are asking the public's help in examining the footage. It shows a vehicle that had been parked in front of the Markham, Ont., residence Monday night.

Police hope anyone who may have been in the area between 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. can recognize the car.

Chief Armand La Barge told a news conference Tuesday that his officers responded to a 911 call reporting a home invasion on 238 Helen Ave., near Kennedy Road and Highway 407, at around 10:30 p.m. Monday.

They found two residents, 53-year-old Bich-Ha Pan and her 57-year-old husband Huei Hann Pan, who had been shot during the invasion. Bich-Ha was pronounced dead at the scene and her husband was rushed to hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Police said both were shot multiple times during the incident, which lasted about 30 minutes. The suspects searched the home for cash and valuables.

The couple's 24-year-old daughter, who was tied up, was found uninjured inside the home. She had placed the 911 call after freeing herself.

Huei left the home and staggered to a neighbour's home for assistance, La Barge said.

The suspects entered the home through the front door, but police don't understand the motive behind the violent crime.

"This appears ... to have been a random, and very brutally violent home invasion," La Barge said.

The three suspects "pose a significant danger" to the community, he said, adding, "It's fortunate we're not dealing with two homicides here."

La Barge said the victims are hardworking Vietnamese immigrants who also have a son. Nothing police have learned so far suggests any reason why they would have been targeted for such a brutal attack, he said.

Bich-Ha was unemployed, while Huei works as a tool-and-die maker, he said.

One neighbour said the Pans were quiet, nice people who didn't bother anyone.

The quiet suburban neighbourhood remained a crime scene throughout the morning, with neighbours watching cautiously. Few had any information about what might have happened.

"The randomness really scares me," one man told CTV News. "If there was a motivation, there is a reason… it couldn't happen to us. But if it was random, we could be next."

York Regional Police released the descriptions of three suspects on Monday, asking anyone with information to contact investigators.

The first suspect is described as a male, black, between 28 and 33 years old. He is medium height and has a medium build, and was last seen with long dreadlocks and wearing dark clothing.

The second suspect is described as a 31-year-old black male of medium height, with a thin build. He was last seen with a bandana covering his face and wearing a dark, hooded sweatshirt.

The third suspect is described as a thin male who spoke with a Caribbean accent.

One of the three wore a bandana, La Barge said.
