WINNIPEG -- Lirim Hajrullahu booted four field goals and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers scored touchdowns off an interception and a blocked punt in a 25-23 victory over the Montreal Alouettes on Friday.

Winnipeg (2-1) held a 22-13 lead going into the fourth quarter, but Montreal running back Tyrell Sutton ran in his second touchdown of the game 55 seconds in to start closing the gap.

Hajrullahu booted his fourth field goal to make it 25-20, but Als rookie quarterback Rakeem Cato guided the Alouettes on a six-play, 55-yard drive that ended with Boris Bede's 38-yard field goal.

With their team leading 25-23, the 25,605 fans at Investors Group Field got loud and Montreal (1-2) was facing third down and eight yards with 1:26 left in the game.

Winnipeg avoided a pass interference penalty and Cato's throw to target S.J.Green was tipped away and the ball turned over at Montreal's 26-yard line.

Green finished with six catches for 180 yards.

Bombers quarterback Drew Willy showed no ill effects from taking a helmet-to-helmet hit in last week's loss to Hamilton, a smack that made him miss three quarters of the game.

Willy completed 20-of-29 pass attempts for 251 yards with no touchdowns and no interceptions.

Cato threw a pair of interceptions, including one that was taken back for a touchdown. He finished 22 of 31 for 317 yards with no TDs.

Cato's CFL debut last week had the league buzzing after he went 20 of 25 with three touchdowns in a 29-11 win over Calgary.

Winnipeg led 6-0 after the first quarter and 19-10 at halftime on a hot, humid night.

Bombers rookie defensive back Johnny Adams intercepted Cato and ran 40 yards for a touchdown early in the second quarter.

Lin-J Shell also blocked a Bede punt and Teague Sherman recovered the ball in the end zone for another major just before halftime.

Hajrullahu connected on field goals from 21, 25, 33 and a career-best 52 yards. He missed one point after (for the third time this season) and was good on another.

Sutton scored his pair of rushing touchdowns from four and eight yards out.

Bede also made a pair of 22-yard field goals and his convert.

Cato led the Als to Winnipeg's 24-yard on the game's opening possession, but after escaping pressure he threw an errant pass down the sidelines into the hands of Bombers linebacker Chris Randle.

Winnipeg took the turnover and used it for Hajrullahu's 52-yard field goal.

He booted a 21-yarder on the Bombers' next possession at 12:27, a drive aided by Clarence Denmark's 41-yard reception.

Montreal closed the score 6-3 just over a minute into the second quarter, but then Adams picked off Cato after stepping in front of intended receiver Green.

Winnipeg led 12-3 at 4:53 following Hajrullahu's missed convert.

After an 11-play, 80-yard drive, the Als overcame penalties for Sutton's four-yard TD at 10:25.

Sherman ended the quarter with his recovery of the blocked punt to make it 19-10 at halftime.

Winnipeg took a 22-13 lead into the fourth quarter after Bede and Hajrullahu traded field goals in the third.
