TORONTO -- The UFC has released Montreal lightweight Mike (The Martian) Ricci, a finalist on Season 16 of "The Ultimate Fighter."
Ricci (9-4) lost to Colton Smith in the finale of the reality TV show last December. He went 1-1 after that, winning a decision over Colin (The Freakshow) Fletcher at UFC 158 and losing by decision to Myles (Fury) Jury at UFC 165.
A member of Ricci's camp confirmed the 27-year-old had been cut by the organization.
"When you take something for granted that's when you lose it," tweeted Ricci.
