TORONTO - Toronto Raptors guard Kyle Lowry will participate in the 2015 skills challenge as part of the NBA's all-star weekend, the league announced Thursday.

He is the second Raptor to take part in the event following DeMar DeRozan last year. The skills challenge takes place Saturday night.

The skills challenge format calls for two players to compete simultaneously on an identical course with the fastest finisher reaching the next round. In the first round, the eight players have been paired to participate in four head-to-head competitions. The four winners advance to the second round, where two more head-to-head showdowns will determine the two finalists.

Lowry will face Chicago Bulls guard/forward Jimmy Butler in Round 1.

Other participants include Utah's Trey Burke, Philadelphia's Michael Carter-Williams, Milwaukee's Brandon Knight, Atlanta's Jeff Teague, Phoenix's Isaiah Thomas and Washington's John Wall.

Lowry was voted by fans as a starter to the Eastern Conference team for the all-star game after finishing second among East guards with 805,290 votes. He is the third Raptor to be elected a starter, joining Vince Carter (2000-04) and Chris Bosh (2007).
