Panthers 5, Sabres 3

SUNRISE, Fla. -- Jaromir Jagr made his Florida debut and Scottie Upshall scored the go-ahead goal with 5:58 left in the Panthers' 5-3 victory over the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday.

Acquired from New Jersey on Thursday for two draft picks, the 43-year-old Jagr had three shots on goal in a little over 17 minutes of ice time to help the Panthers outshoot the Sabres 47-14.

Brandon Pirri scored twice for the Panthers. Nick Bjugstad also scored, and Derek MacKenzie added an empty-net goal with 17 seconds left. Roberto Luongo stopped 11 shots.

Brad Boyes had three assists, and Brian Campbell added two.

The Panthers snapped a four-game losing streak and are 4-0-1 against the Sabres this season. The Sabres lost for the first time in three games.

Torrey Mitchell, Andrej Meszaros and Cody Hodgson scored Buffalo, and Michal Neuvirth made 42 saves.

Red Wings 4, Predators 3

NASHVILLE, Tenn.  -- Tomas Tatar broke a tie on a power play at 9:06 of the third period to help Detroit beat Nashville.

Tatar carried the puck toward the Nashville net and fired a backhander that deflected off Predators defenceman Roman Josi's stick and past goalie Pekka Rinne. Tatar leads the Red Wings with 25 goals.

Alexey Marchenko scored his first NHL goal, and Brendan Smith, Drew Miller also scored to help Detroit win its second straight game. Matt Cullen, Mike Fisher, and Shea Weber scored for Nashville. The Predators have consecutive games in regulation time for the first time this season.

Marchenko tied it at 3 at 3:56 of the third. With the teams skating 4-on-4, Marchenko's wrist shot from the right circle beat Rinne underneath the crossbar.

Hurricanes 5, Islanders 3

UNIONDALE, N.Y.  -- Jay McClement scored twice and Cam Ward made 21 saves as Carolina beat the New York Islanders for its third straight win.

McClement tied it 1-1 late in the first period and then scored again midway through the second for his sixth goal. Justin Faulk, Brad Malone and Michal Jordan also netted second-period goals for Carolina, which beat the Islanders for the first time in four meeting this season.

Michael Grabner opened the scoring for the Islanders at 11:47 of the first with his seventh goal, rifling the puck past Ward from the left circle. Nikolay Kulemin and John Tavares also scored for the Islanders.

The Hurricanes have won four of five.

It was only the second loss in 13 home games against Metropolitan Division rivals for the Islanders.

Devils 2, Blue Jackets 0

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Andy Greene scored, Travis Zajac added an empty-net goal, and Cory Schneider made 33 saves for his fourth shutout of the season to lead New Jersey past Columbus.

Playing their lone road game in a 10-game, 23-day stretch, the Devils won for the first time in four away games. They had lost their previous two games overall.

Curtis McElhinney made 19 saves for Columbus, which has lost five in a row (0-4-1). The Blue Jackets are .500 on the road (14-14-2) but just 12-17-2 at home.

Columbus was pressing late -- Schneider had turned away a shot by rookie Alexander Wennberg in the final minute -- when Zajac scored his 10th goal to ice it.

Schneider earned his 16th NHL shutout. He blanked Arizona three games earlier.

David Clarkson made his Columbus debut against a familiar foe. He scored 97 goals and had 73 assists in 426 games with New Jersey before signing with Toronto three years ago.

Bruins 4, Coyotes 1

BOSTON  -- Milan Lucic, Patrice Bergeron, Brad Marchand each had a goal and an assist, helping Boston send Arizona to its ninth straight loss.

Zdeno Chara added a power-play goal and an assist for the Bruins, who won for the third time in four games following a six-game losing streak (0-4-2).

Tuukka Rask made 31 saves for Boston after missing Friday's win in New Jersey because he was sick.

Martin Erat scored for the Coyotes, who finished a four-game road trip during which they were outscored 16-5.

Arizona starting goaltender Mike Smith was pulled after giving up four goals on 20 shots, including Lucic's that caromed in off his skate when he was out of position.

Canadiens 4, Maple Leafs 0

MONTREAL  -- Manny Malhotra scored his first goal with the Canadiens, Carey Price made 30 saves for his sixth shutout of the season, and Montreal beat Toronto.

David Desharnais had two goals, and Tomas Plekanec also scored for Montreal (41-16-5), which has won four in a row and 14 of 19.

The Maple Leafs (25-32-5) had a two-game winning streak snapped.

Price, the NHL leader in save percentage and goals-against average, earned his 31st career shutout. Toronto outshot the Canadiens 30-23.

Flyers 4, Rangers 2

PHILADELPHIA -- Michael Del Zotto's short-handed goal 1:19 into the third period lifted Philadelphia over the New York Rangers.

Matt Read, Michael Raffl and Wayne Simmonds also scored for the Flyers, who snapped a two-game losing streak and cooled off the Rangers.

J.T. Miller and John Moore tallied for New York, which lost in regulation for the first time in 11 games (7-1-3) and had a five-game, road-winning streak snapped.

Steve Mason kept the Flyers ahead by turning aside several shots during a late Rangers power play. His best saves during the flurry came when he extended a pad to deny Moore and moved laterally to stop Rick Nash on the doorstep.

Mason made 34 saves in his second game after missing eight due to a right knee injury.

Senators 4, Sharks 2

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Mike Hoffman scored a power-play goal to break a tie midway through the third period, and Ottawa rallied from a pair of deficits to post its fifth straight win, beating reeling San Jose.

Hoffman added an empty-net goal, and Erik Karlsson and Mark Stone also scored for the Senators, who completed a California sweep. Andrew Hammond followed up shutouts in Anaheim and Los Angeles by stopping 28 of 30 shots to win his fifth straight start to open his career.

Tommy Wingels and Patrick Marleau scored for the Sharks, who have dropped eight straight home games for the first time since the 1994-95 season to put their streak of 10 straight playoff appearances in doubt. Antti Niemi made 27 saves.

Wild 3, Avalanche 1

DENVER -- Justin Fontaine broke a second-period tie, and Devan Dubnyk stopped 33 shots, leading Minnesota over Colorado.

Erik Haula and Jason Pominville also scored for the Wild, who improved to 4-0 against Colorado this season. They have outscored the Avalanche 12-1.

Dubnyk started his 20th straight game since joining the Wild in a trade with Arizona on Jan. 15 and improved to 15-3-1. The consecutive starts match the Wild goalie record set by Niklas Backstrom in 2009.

Maxime Talbot scored the lone goal for the Avalanche. Semyon Varlamov started his 19th straight game and fell to 9-8-2 during the stretch.

Blues 2, Oilers 1

EDMONTON, Alberta -- Paul Stastny scored the winning goal with 5:40 left and added an assist as St. Louis edged Edmonton.

Dmitrij Jaskin also scored for the Blues (40-18-4), who have won two in a row.

Justin Schultz had the only goal for the Oilers (18-35-10), who have lost three of four.

St. Louis took a 1-0 lead with 7:49 remaining in the first period when Stastny made a nice feed across to Jaskin, who beat goalie Ben Scrivens for his 10th goal of the season.

Edmonton tied it 6:31 into the second period as Schultz put a long wrist shot past Brian Elliott.

Elliott made 21 saves for the win. Scrivens stopped 25 shots in defeat.
