After giving a local hockey team a hard time for losing every single game all season, Cape Bretoners are now hailing the boys as heroes.
The Cape Breton Tradesmen, a major midget team, were on their team bus heading back to Sydney, N.S., Sunday, after having lost their 25th game of the season.
Someone noticed a vehicle had slid off the road, so the bus pulled over. The boys helped a shaken-up mother and her little boy up a snowy embankment, and then comforted them on the bus ride back to Cape Breton
Since then, locals have been praising their character and leadership, which the players say has lifted their spirits after a disappointing season on the ice.
Speaks very highly to the character and leadership of the group & staff of @CBTradesmen.#LifeLessons https://t.co/kpGRFWNTvm

“We’ll never forget that,” said Ty Tracey, one of the players, “just because it’s around Christmas and it’s nice to help people out.”
