TORONTO - The Toronto Maple Leafs have claimed well-travelled defenceman Tim Erixon off waivers from the Chicago Blackhawks.

Erixon, 24, was once considered a highly touted prospect but will be joining his fourth organization in under six years.

The left-handed-shooting blue-liner has one goal and 12 assists in 78 career NHL games, including a goal and five assists in 27 this season.

Erixon, a 2009 first-round pick of the Calgary Flames, is set to be a restricted free agent this summer.

When the Flames were unable to sign Erixon they sent him to the Rangers in 2011, and New York dealt him to Columbus as part of the Rick Nash trade in 2012.

Earlier this season, the Blue Jackets traded him to Chicago for forward Jermy Morin.
