LONDON -- Prosecutors say former English soccer coach Barry Bennell has been charged with sexually assaulting a boy under the age of 14.

The Crown Prosecution Service says it received a file of evidence from Cheshire Police in northern England about "non-recent child sexual abuse," leading to Bennell being charged with eight offences.

Bennell has been charged with assault with the intent to commit buggery, five counts of indecent assault and two of inciting the boy to commit an act of gross indecency.
