TORONTO -- Canadian Mitch Gagnon, riding a four-fight win streak in the UFC, has been rewarded with a matchup with former bantamweight champion Renan Barao.

The two will meet Dec. 20 on a televised card in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

For Barao, it's his first outing since May when he lost the 135-pound title to T.J. Dillashaw. The Brazilian was slated to face Dillashaw in an August rematch, but was pulled from the bout on the day of the weigh-in day after falling and hitting his head.

Gagnon, a native of Sudbury, Ont., has won 10 of his last 11 bouts. He stopped Roman Salazar via first-round submission earlier this month in Halifax.

Barao (34-2 with one no contest) is ranked No. 1 among bantamweight contenders while Gagnon (12-2) is No 15.
