A peacock spotted on the rooftops of Toronto homes has returned home after escaping from its pen at a nearby zoo last week.

After a week-long trip, the peacock is back at home at the High Park Zoo, officials confirmed Wednesday morning.

Zoo supervisor Karinthia Battig said she wasn't sure whether it returned Tuesday or Wednesday morning.

"He's currently in the bison pen, but will hopefully fly back to his own shortly," the zoo said in a message posted on Twitter.

The peacock flew itscoop last Wednesday, but was coaxed back into its pen on Thursday. The feathered fugitive escaped again Friday morning, and was spotted on rooftops in a residential area near the zoo over the weekend.

Animal services crews tried to capture the bird, but were unsuccessful. City officials then decided they would set out feeding stations in nearby parks in attempt to lure the bird to a location where itcould be captured. Instead, the fowl returned of itsown accord and was spotted back at the zoo a week after theinitial escape.
